Making Waves at Cinegear and Bild 2025: The S35 BSI Debut That Dropped Jaws
Our SPARK prototype with its S35 BSI sensor made quite a splash at Cinegear and Bild 2025. Even the seen-it-all camera pros couldn’t hide their surprise.
“Wait, this is shot at 1000FPS? With THAT little light? HOW?!”
The crowd around our booth kept growing as people watched slow-motion footage that shouldn’t have been possible with so little light.
Today, we’re excited to share the technology behind what many are calling a breakthrough in high-speed imaging.
BSI Technology: A New Paradigm for Low-Light Performance
Let’s face it: high-speed photography has been a pain. You needed tons of lights, enough power to trip breakers, and so much setup time that you forgot what you wanted to shoot in the first place. Trying to capture slow-motion without blinding light? Hello, grainy footage!
Why BSI? Because we got tired of seeing creators drag massive lighting setups just for a simple slow-mo shot. It was like using a fire hose to fill a water glass.
SPARK flips this script entirely with its S35 BSI (Back-Side Illuminated) sensor. By completely rethinking sensor architecture, we’ve boosted quantum efficiency from the industry standard 60% to a mind-blowing 80%+. Translation?Your camera now sees in dim light where others see nothing, giving you clean 4K slow-motion at 1000FPS when other cameras would just show noise.
SPARK in Action: Real-World Performance
Lab tests are nice, but real-world performance is where the rubber meets the road. So we took SPARK out for some adventures:
The “No Extra Lights” Test at Universal Studio
Our team went shooting with just SPARK and whatever light was already there—no extra lights, no reflectors, nothing fancy. The results? Water droplets in perfect slow-motion that looked amazing.
Bild 2025 Demonstration
At Bild, we kept things basic: just regular convention hall lights plus one small Nanlite 500B. That’s practically nothing for high-speed work.
We filmed brave attendees tackling bagels in ultra-slow-motion—who knew chewing could look so cinematic? 😂 Visitors were mesmerized watching every jaw movement, crumb fall, and bite in 1000FPS detail. (Keep an eye on our socials—we’ll be dropping more of these bagel gems throughout the week!)
More Than Just a Great Sensor: The Complete SPARK Experience
While the BSI sensor is groundbreaking, SPARK delivers a comprehensive solution for filmmakers at every level:
- 4K Resolution at 1000 FPS: Capture extraordinary detail in ultra slow-motion
- Unlimited Recording Time: Focus on your creative vision without technical limitations
- PSLC PCIe 4 SSD System: Stream directly to storage and swap drives seamlessly
- RAW Format Capture: For those who like to pixel-peep and color grade to perfection
- Professional Connectivity: 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 for 4K monitoring
- 3.5-inch High-Brightness Screen: Clear visibility even in challenging conditions
- Wireless Control: Connect via WiFi or Bluetooth for remote operation from your phone
The Beginning of a Journey (And You’re Invited)
After seeing all those wide eyes at Cinegear and Bild, our CEO put it perfectly: “BSI is one small step for Spark, one collective leap beyond creative boundaries. And it’s the chapter one of a much bigger story.”
We’re now fine-tuning SPARK with all the great feedback from pros and creators who stopped by our booth. Your input is helping us make the production model even better than what made everyone’s jaws drop.
Want to peek behind the curtain as SPARK evolves? We’re about to start publishing our development work logs, giving you front-row access to all the juicy updates, challenges, and breakthroughs as they happen.
This is your chance to be part of the slow-motion revolution before everyone else jumps on the bandwagon. Because nothing says “visionary filmmaker” like being able to say “I was there when it all started.”
This is Pixboom. This is where you see beyond… and have a blast doing it.
